Loaded for Bear was formed in 2007 in Corvallis, Oregon. The next two years were spent writing, arranging, recording and playing shows around the northwest. The full-length debut album 'A Following Sea was released in July of 2009. The next year was spent primarily playing shows in support of the album throughout the Northwest and California. From summer of 2010 to autumn of 2011 the band retooled its roster and embarked on an ambitious recording project, the first fruits of which were released Nov. of 2011 in the form of a 12'' vinyl LP entitled 'The Exit Carnival' along with a 5 track companion EP in digital form entitled 'The Cloak Room.' The next stage of the recording venture is likely to produce a full length "b-sides" album from the 'Exit Carnival' sessions likely available spring or summer of 2012. We think of our music as atmospheric, melodic, piano-based baroque pop. Its got classical influence, some post-rock elements, brit-rock/pop aspects and a fairly large dose of that northwest autumnal moodiness. The lyrics tend towards the surreal and the music's got eclectic drumming styles, baritone vocals, pianos, organs, synths, strings, bass, baritone and layers of electric guitars, glockenspiel, noises; with things like mountain dulcimer, harpsichord, auto-harp and throat singing making guest appearances. We'd like to think the songs might conjure up things like fog, hills, space, old-world carnivals, vague disaster, and a compass rose.
